Rules and Regulations

It is the responsibility of all Knowlwood members to know and abide by the rules and regulations of the Club as established by the Board of Directors.  It is also the responsibility of the members as well as the tennis pros and club managers to enforce the rules.  Any member who needs help understanding or enforcing the rules should contact any tennis pro or club manager.

Club Use

Knowlwood tennis courts, pool and club facilities are available only for members, for their guests, and for non -members participating in clinics, lessons, or swim team.

Club Hours: 8 am until dusk. (The general rule is, If you need a flashlight, the Club is closed.)

Courts 1,2, and 3 may be used beginning at 7:30 am for clinics only. All other courts are available for play at 8:00 am.

Members must accompany their guests at all times.  Guests must wait for their host member to arrive before either taking a court or entering the pool area.

When at the club for lessons or clinics, non-members must wait for their clinic start time or for their teacher to take a court.

Knowlwood requires no guest fees for tennis, but there are guest fees for the pool area: $2 per adult, $1 per child.

Guests must be signed in at the pool kiosk.

Non-members must leave the club promptly at the end of their clinic, lesson, or swim team practice/event.

General Rules

Knowlwood is a family club, with a fun and relaxed atmosphere, and where kids are invited to be kids.  Even so, our general rule is “no outrageous behavior allowed.”

Although kids and others are welcome to bring bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, or scooters to the club, no bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, or scooters may be ridden at the club. Once members have arrived, they should place their bike or scooter in the bike racks.  We strongly encourage people to lock their bikes and scooters. Rollerblades and skateboards should be placed on the bench or outside the court or with other personal items at the pool or picnic area.

Food is allowed on the deck and on the lawn section of the picnic/BBQ area. No glass bottles are allowed on the courts or in the pool area. Please be sure to place all trash in the appropriate containers, and when using the BBQ, bring the trash down to the dumpster if the trash cans are full.

Pets are not allowed on the property.

Cell phones should be used with discretion.  Cell phone use that disturbs players or the peace and quiet of members on the deck or poolside is prohibited.

Since Knowlwood is self-governed, we are all responsible for the general upkeep of the club. All trash must be placed in the appropriate trash or recycle bin.

Tennis Court Use

Proper tennis attire must be worn at all times while on the courts, including athletic clothing and non-marring tennis shoes.  Shirts must be worn at all times.

Courts are available on a first come, first served basis, with the exception of the teaching courts and courts that the Board of Directors has approved for clinic, league, tournament, or special event use.  Please see the calendar for current details.

Member play has priority on courts 3-10*(except during pickleball hours noted below) over private lessons and clinics that have expanded beyond the courts approved for their use. If the courts are full when you arrive to play, please ask a teaching pro for assistance. It is the pro’s responsibility to help you or your children get a court or to answer any tennis or court usage questions you may have.

The teaching pros always have priority on the teaching courts: courts 1 and 2 M-F 7:30-dark and Sat and Sun 7:30 – 2 pm:   courts 2 and 6 Sat and Sun 2 pm-dark

Teaching pros may utilize other courts as long as they do not interfere with member play.

When courts are full and players are waiting for a court, playing time is limited:

Warm up is limited to 10 minutes

Hitting time is limited to 30 minutes

Singles is limited to 60 minutes

Doubles is limited to 90 minutes

Court time begins when you take the court. Please wait to take a court until all players are present and ready to play.

Players should not leave balls, containers, or trash on the courts after use.  Please place used balls in the recycling containers.

Adults do not have priority over juniors on courts.

Clay Courts

The clay courts need to be swept after playing.   There are 2 choices:

(1) Brush (2) Matte

Please use the brush to sweep the court if the court is completely dry.

Please use the matte to sweep the court if there is some moisture on the clay.

It is NOT necessary to Brush the lines on the court.

Please make sure that any brushes or mattes are hanging & not touching the ground

After playing, wash the clay off your shoes so you do not track clay to other parts of the club.

Pickleball.

Pickleball may be played on court 6  from 9am – noon daily and on court 1 Sat and Sun after 2:30 pm.

Although Pickleball may be played during these hours, pickleball never has priority over tennis. If tennis players are using a “pickleball approved” court during pickleball hours AND there is an available hard court elsewhere, pickleball players may ask the tennis players to move to the available hardcourt.
